1 dead and 3 injured in an accident north of Toronto

A 73-year-old senior was killed in the collision on Highway 400.

Police are looking for a driver after a collision in which a 73-year-old woman died early Friday morning on Highway 400 north of Toronto. The crash also left three people injured.

The OPP says the collision between a Volkswagen Jetta car and a minivan occurred around 3 a.m. near Rutherford Road in Vaughan.

The Jetta rammed the back of the minivan, police say.

An occupant of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

According to the OPP, the driver of the Jetta was seen leaving the scene of the crash. x27; accident on foot. Investigators say they are examining clues they have received on this subject.

The southbound lanes of the A-400 were closed for several hours Friday morning between Rutherford and 7 arteries, so that the police were continuing their investigation.

The highway has since been reopened in the area.
