20 hour ER wait: “Bring a snack”, says hospital

The ER wait at London's biggest hospital reached 8pm on Tuesday.

“Consider bringing water, a snack, headphones, etc. the largest hospital in London, Ont., advised in a tweet on Tuesday, when ER wait times reached 8 p.m.

London Health Sciences Center hit the 20-hour ER wait mark shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

< p class="e-p">The wait time had decreased to 3 p.m. shortly before 5 p.m., the hospital claimed in another tweet.

In a statement, the hospital Health explains that greater “fluidity in the flow of patients” led to this reduction in the wait.

The hospital clarifies that x27;this is the “non-emergency” standby, ensuring that patients in medical distress are seen promptly.

We are committed to providing transparently updated information to the community and we are working to implement a more consistent system for informing the public of wait times, adds the management of the establishment.

Many hospital emergency departments in Ontario have been struggling for several months to meet demand, facing a shortage of staff, in particular. Some establishments have even had to close their emergency rooms temporarily.
