27th homicide in Montreal: body found in outdoor trash can

The police discovered the body of a man bearing signs of violence in an outdoor trash can located on avenue du Docteur-Penfield.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is investigating the 27th murder to occur in the city this year, the 2nd in just 24 hours. The victim's body was discovered in an outdoor trash can and bore marks of violence.

Around 7:20 p.m., the police were called to carry out an inspection of an apartment on Avenue des Pins, not far from Avenue McGregor, in the Ville-Marie sector.

In doing so, the police noticed traces of blood inside the apartment.

After continuing their investigation, the police discovered the body of a man bearing marks of violence in an outdoor trash can located on Avenue du Docteur-Penfield.

The SPVM is investigating the 27th murder to occur on the island of Montreal this year.

Following this discovery, the police set up a security perimeter, which was lifted early Saturday morning. Major crime investigators were dispatched to analyze the crime scene and thus determine the circumstances of the crime.

Forensic identification technicians were also called to go to the scene.

Investigators will go door to door to try to obtain information and will watch the recordings of the surveillance cameras.

For the moment, the SPVM is not advancing on the identity of the victim.
