2nd Charge Case for Sexual Assault During Massage in a Week in Manitoba

A woman filed a complaint in Steinbach on Friday, a similar incident was reported in Winnipeg on October 8.

A man is charged with sexually assaulting a woman in southern Manitoba during a massage, say the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who believe there may be other victims. This is the second alleged incident of its kind in a week in Manitoba.

The woman filed a complaint with Steinbach RCMP on Friday, police said in a statement. press on Saturday.

She alleges she was assaulted during a massage by a man she believed to be a licensed therapist but the RCMP said he was not .

The man works in a basement in the small community of Blumenort, just north of Steinbach and about 45 kilometers southeast of Winnipeg.

According to the RCMP, she said he suffered unwanted sexual touching during the massage.

The 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexual assault. He remains in custody.

Police also believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the Steinbach RCMP at 204-326-4452.

This is the second allegation of sexual assault during a massage reported to police in Manitoba this week.

Police of Winnipeg said Thursday the Sex Crimes Unit is investigating a similar allegation.

The incident took place Oct. 8, according to police. During a massage therapy session at a salon on Portage Avenue, the therapist, a 34-year-old man, used sexually explicit language and touched the woman, in her 20s, in an unwanted sexual way, < /p>

He was released on conditions, as required by the Criminal Code, police said, but the investigation continues.

In Manitoba, massage therapy is currently not a regulated profession, according to the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba, a not-for-profit association.
