4th Arrest in Violent Frying Pan Assault on Elnaz Hajtamiri

Elnaz Hajtamiri, 37, was abducted on January 12 from a residence in Wasaga Beach, a few weeks after her assault in an underground parking lot. She remains missing.

York Regional Police announced Friday that they have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the December 2021 assault of Elnaz Hajtamiri, just weeks before his kidnapping.

Police say Harshpreet Sekhon, a resident of Mono, Ont., is facing charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He stands in custody since February 16 and his next appearance is scheduled for Monday.

Harshpreet Sekhon is the fourth suspect in the assault on Elnaz Hajtamiri, who was abducted weeks later, according to police.

According to law enforcement, Ms Hajtamiri, The 37-year-old was attacked and beaten with a frying pan in the basement of a high-rise condominium in Richmond Hill, north of Toronto.

The suspects, then described as two in number, fled while the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In 2022, three men were arrested in connection with this attack. One of them, Riyasat Singh, was sentenced to one year in prison last November, before being deported a few weeks later.

Another defendant, Harshdeep Binner of Brampton, will appear March 2 to face multiple charges of attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, possession of proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000 and mischief of greater value. also $5,000.

A few weeks after the assault, on January 12, 2022, Elnaz Hajtamiri was reportedly abducted from a family member's home in Wasaga Beach .
