The events took place during the night of December 27 to 28.

A few days before New Year's Eve, the Rochefort-du-Gard festival committee was in for a very unpleasant surprise. The gymnasium, where the New Year's Eve party was to take place, was burglarized. “We found confetti on the ground, an empty champagne bottle, and even vomit”, explains one of the volunteers, who noticed the damage the next day. Debris that suggests that the burglars had a party before leaving with some of the equipment.

Nearly €800 worth of equipment stolen

In this case: a box of champagne, a Proel speaker, a screwdriver, a tool case, all the confetti cannons, as well as two boxes of light-up bracelets were stolen. Equipment that was supposed to be used for the New Year's Eve party. “In total, nearly €800 worth of equipment was taken from us”, regrets the volunteer. A complaint has been filed, confirms the Gard gendarmerie. The perpetrator(s) have not yet been found. “The CCTV footage will be analyzed this Monday and DNA analysis will also be carried out on the cigarette butts found on site and the bottle of champagne”, he assures.

New Year's Eve party maintained

A regrettable event that does not discourage the volunteers of the festival committee. “We lost a day to clean everything up but the party on the 31st will take place as planned”, assures one of them, while putting things into perspective:“Fortunately, we hadn't started storing everything in the gymnasium yet”. An evening that already has nearly 200 reservations.
