Month-old baby thrown after being hit by car with mother, driver flees

Ce mercredi 8 janvier 2025, un accident a eu lieu à Avion (Pas-de-Calais). Une mère de famille et son enfant de quelques mois en poussette ont été percutés par une voiture.

The incident took place early this afternoon in the town of Avion, on the outskirts of Lens. Emergency services had to intervene after a traffic accident was reported at a roundabout, reports La Voix du Nord. The victims: a woman and her 8-month-old child who were knocked down by a car.

A fleeing driver

The collision took place on a pedestrian crossing on Boulevard Henri-Martel, at the roundabout known as La Coulotte, notes the local daily. The accident was apparently particularly violent, since the child was thrown several meters and his life is in danger.

The young victim, a few months old, was taken care of by emergency services, more precisely a pediatric SMUR team that went to the CHR in Lille. The mother was also transported to the hospital.

It should be noted that the driver of the vehicle involved fled and is currently being sought by law enforcement. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
