New Model Y arrives in Europe, Tesla confirms its entry into production

It's only a matter of time before the new Model Y Juniper, a cleverly reworked version of Tesla's flagship vehicle, hits the market in Europe. Until then, the automaker's factory will be running at full capacity. Let's take stock.

Production begins in Germany

Elon Musk's firm has confirmed the launch of production of its redesigned car in its Berlin Gigafactory. Operations began on Tuesday, January 14. However, this vehicle is not yet available to order on the Old Continent, as was the case in China just after production began. So you'll have to be a little patient.

As the specialized site Electrek explains, this is not really surprising. Indeed, Tesla had indeed started manufacturing the new Model Y several weeks in the Middle Kingdom before opening orders.

Our colleagues specify on this subject:

Tesla will have to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible, because any slowdown in Model Y deliveries would have a considerable impact on the company, since the program now represents the majority of its sales.

As for prices in Europe, if they are not yet known, we are talking about an entry-level propulsion around 45,400 euros. In France, the current Model Y Propulsion is sold for a little less than 45,000 euros on the manufacturer's website at the time of writing.

News on the Model Y

As a reminder, and if we rely on the model presented in China, this new Model Y has a reworked design and it integrates a light strip on the entire front, Cybertruck style. A “diffuse reflection light” is also present at the rear, and it is wider than that of the Model 3. The color palette evolves with the introduction of a new dark gray replacing black, which is added to white, gray, blue and red.

Also note a redesign of the interior with another light strip in the cabin and better quality materials. Rear passengers will also benefit from an 8-inch touch screen, an appreciable feature. Finally, Tesla will offer two engines to its customers: a propulsion version and a long-range version.

The additions and modifications are still legion. We let you read about it in our previous article here.
