Struck by a vehicle on Sunday evening, a 78-year-old man died

Emergency service vehicles were spotted Sunday evening on Osborne Street near 7-Eleven and Fred Tippin Place, a seniors' residence.

A 78-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in the Fort Rouge neighborhood Sunday night, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

The incident happened on Osborne Street near Bartlett Avenue. First responders arrived at the scene shortly before 10 p.m. The pedestrian, whose condition was unstable, was taken to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 80s, remained at the scene and met with officers, according to a news release Monday.

Police spokesman Jay Murray says it is too early to know the cause of the collision.
