Sinking site in Trzebinia, Małopolska
Photos from the Trzebinia cemetery circulated around the network located at Jana Pawła II Street, where a huge sinkhole appeared. Measurements indicate that it is at least 20 meters wide and 10 meters deep.
The services were called to the site, fencing off the sinkhole area. The relevant local authorities were informed about the whole situation. The case was also reported to the Mine Restructuring Company, because there is a high probability that the funnel was created as a result of mining and mining activities conducted in this area.
This is not the first such case in Trzebinia.
The sinkhole in the necropolis of Trzebinia is not an isolated case. In November last year, a similar funnel was discovered in allotment gardens in Trzebinia. At the time, the sinkhole absorbed 20 thuja growing on one of the plots, the construction of the pool, and the swing.
According to the information provided by the local media then, it appears that in that case the funnel was the result of mining in the Wanda mine. It functioned in this area at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Hydrogeological research is currently being carried out in Trzebinia. There are also plans to conduct GPR analyzes.
