Instagram launched in India editor short music clips in Reels. They plan to replace the social network TikTok, which the authorities blocked a week ago.
After the decision of Indian authorities to ban TikTok and dozens of other Chinese applications for reasons of confidentiality, Instagram decided to launch in this country of a competitor TikTok — service Reels. This is a function to edit a 15-second music video.
Now Instagram Reels works in Brazil, France and Germany. But a spokesman for Instagram said that soon this feature will launch in several countries. However, the launch will be a test in the future the function may be closed.
Earlier, the Indian authorities blocked WeChat, TikTok and dozens of Chinese applications. Mass media connect this prohibition with military conflict, which occurred on the border of the two countries.
Officials explained this by the fact that the applications “are engaged in activities detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the country’s defence and state security and public order.” According to them, they have received numerous reports that these people are in danger and pass into the wrong hands.
