A symbolic banquet bringing together around a hundred people was held this Friday morning in front of the Émile Borel hospital in Saint-Affrique. This event, organized by the Manifeste and the Émile Borel Collective, aims to defend the establishment. The participants sat around large tables set up on the sidewalk in front of the hospital, creating a scene of peaceful mobilization.
“If the director of ARS Occitanie did not answer the specific questions and proposals, at least he will have understood that the residents and caregivers do not accept the situation and will not let their hospital die in the name of a joint hospital project”, the collective developed.
Among the figures present, we found the mayor of Saint-Affrique, Sébastien David, who is also president of the hospital's supervisory board. Clément Carles, regional councilor, also made the trip to show his support, as did José Bové, present as a simple, committed citizen.
The banquet, held under the surveillance of the gendarmerie forces, reflects a significant and symbolic mobilization. The hospital management also reinforced security by employing two agents from a private company, positioned at the main entrance of the establishment.
