A knight of the Seven Kingdoms: 3 information on the Game of Thrones series

Warner Bros has a golden goose with Game of Thrones, and the entertainment giant intends to take advantage of it. After the end of the main series in 2019, House of the Dragons was able to seduce fans with a very successful first season. HBO also formalized the development of another project: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And in fact, things are becoming clearer regarding this original creation. The opportunity for us to take stock.

What will it be about?

In this series based on the Dunk and Egg novels by George R.R. Martin, we will follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Great (Drunk), and his squire Aegon Targaryen (Egg). The first is a simple-minded knight who has a good heart. The same cannot be said of Prince Targaryen, who is very far from his line of succession.

The two friends cross Westeros and experience many adventures. Unlike Game of Throneswhich focuses on a very dark and sometimes cynical universe, the tone of this story is much lighter. Enough to allow newcomers to tame a universe sometimes considered very complex.

Two actors wanted

On Twitter, the casting director of the series, Lucy Bevan posted an announcement aiming to recruit two actors to play Drunk and Egg. The first profile sought is a boy aged 9 to 10, short but “wise beyond his years”. The second position to be filled concerns the role of a soldier aged 18 to 25, “very tall and physically strong”.

While the strike is currently paralyzing Hollywood, production should be able to proceed without too many problems. Indeed, HBO is looking for British actors, and they are not affected by the current social movement. Therefore, filming is already planned for next year.

The revelations of George R.R. Martin

The author of Game of Thrones has gotten into the habit of sending some secrets to its readers, particularly on its blog. We learned thanks to him that the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will include six episodes in total. He says he is very attached to these characters and could write other stories around them to fuel new seasons. Finally, he promises to produce “faithful adaptations of these stories for the screen”.
