Energoatom plans to open 120 fast charging stations for electric vehicles in two years. They will appear in regional centers, as well as on key Ukrainian highways.
A new large network of fast charging stations for electric cars should start operating in Ukraine in the coming years. Energoatom will be its creator. The corresponding order of the Ministry of Energy was approved at a government meeting, the press service of the ministry reports.
Energoatom plans to equip 120 fast charging stations for electric vehicles in two years. Of these, 40 have a capacity of over 160 kW and 80 have a capacity of 80 kW or more. This will allow charging an electric car completely from scratch in an hour or two.
Charging stations for electric cars will appear on key highways of Ukraine and in regional centers. The financial partner of the project will be the state-owned Ukrgasbank.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko noted that Energoatom has significant reserve capacity for generating electricity. In addition, during the war, the demand for electric vehicles in Ukraine grew rapidly. In total, about 100 thousand electric and hybrid cars are already driving on the roads of our country.
“The creation of a national infrastructure of charging stations will give impetus not only to the spread of personal electric vehicles, but also to the development of new services using electric vehicles, for example, in the field of delivery and logistics. At the same time, the development of electric transport and related infrastructure means reducing Ukraine's dependence on fossil fuels, reducing the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, and improving the overall environmental situation,” Herman Galushchenko said.
