The microchip helped to return cat home after 7 years — the hostess could not believe it

Seven years ago, when Denise Seeley was throwing a party for her daughter's 10th birthday, their beloved cat escaped. They looked everywhere for Ashes, but life in rural Maine (USA) is dangerous — predators are everywhere. The family was afraid that something irreparable had happened, Ukr.Media informs.

After several weeks of searching, Silly's family gave up… and then, seven years later, February 2022 came . During these 7 years, Ashes somehow got from her home in the state of Maine to Longwood, in the state of Florida — a distance of 2400 km!

“I got a voicemail from a shelter in Florida saying they found my cat, and I thought, 'That's weird,'” shares Denise. “I was about to call them and say, 'You got the wrong number,' but they called me and said, 'We found your cat.' And I tell them: " This cannot happen. I live in Maine and am not looking for a cat. Stunned, Denise eventually found out that the cat was identified by a microchip that was “sewn” into it. information about its owner — name, phone number, place of residence. And then she realized that it was her pet that she had lost 7 years ago.

At first, Denise was not sure when and how they would get their pet back home. Considering the cost of the flight and vet clinic fees, it seemed like it would take some time. Luckily, their friend from Florida, Janet Williams, was more than happy to help. She temporarily sheltered Ashes at her home and also set up a GoFundMe donation site to raise money for the expenses.

Before they knew it, enough money had been raised and Ashes made it home successfully! “Microchips work wonders,” says Denise. "It is safe and does not harm the cat in any way. It doesn't have GPS, so it doesn't track you or your pet. It's a really quick procedure, and it's the only way to get your pet home safe and sound.

Denise never thought Ashes could make it to Florida – she still wonders if she somehow managed way to get into the van. But it seems that it will forever remain a mystery.
