Radio-Canada Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is organizing a regional debate between the candidates of the main political parties as part of the provincial election campaign.

The event, hosted by news anchor Jean-François Coulombe, will take place on Wednesday, September 21 at 6 p.m. It will be broadcast on ICI Télé, ICI Première, on the web and on the Facebook page Ici Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

Since the beginning of this campaign, our team makes every effort to ensure that the views of regional candidates are heard. This debate promises to raise the concerns of the population here, maintains the regional director of Radio-Canada, Christian Grégoire.

The candidates will have to answer a dozen questions inspired by the concerns of voters in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. They will have a specific time to respond and can then debate with their counterparts.

This is a perfect opportunity for voters to have a summary what the parties are proposing for our region and help them make their choice , mentions Christian Grégoire.

For the moment four candidates have confirmed their participation. They are Caroline Dubé for the Parti Québécois, Adrien Guibert-Barthez for Québec solidaire, Andrée Laforest for the Coalition avenir Québec and Tommy Pageau for the Conservative Party of Québec.

The presence of a candidate from the Quebec Liberal Party had also been confirmed, but it is now uncertain due to COVID-19.

The debate will take place at the Radio-Canada station in the borough of Chicoutimi.

Media representatives will be able to attend and ask questions of participants after the broadcast at 7:00 p.m.
