Around 8 p.m., the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) received several calls for gunshots heard near Place Jacques-Cartier, in the Ville-Marie borough, as well as for a person possibly shot.

Once there, SPVM patrol officers assisted a 31-year-old man seriously injured in the upper body, reports police relations officer Julien Lévesque.
He was taken care of by the emergency-health paramedics and he was conscious when transported by ambulance to a trauma center in Montreal.
The SPVM is awaiting a report on his state of health as well as on the nature of the injuries from the medical authorities.
