A woman found dead in Parc-Extension victim of a murder

The SPVM is still investigating to establish the circumstances of this second homicide to occur this year in Montreal.

The A 54-year-old woman who was found dead in the Montreal neighborhood of Parc-Extension on Sunday afternoon was the victim of a murder, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) confirmed Monday evening.

This is therefore the second homicide to occur on SPVM territory this year, said spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.

On Sunday, SPVM police officers were first called to intervene in a neighboring apartment for an armed scuffle, around 1:30 p.m.

When the police are arrived on the spot, they intervened with a 23-year-old man who was seriously injured in the upper body with a knife, SPVM spokeswoman Véronique Dubuc said on Sunday. The man, who was conscious, was sent to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A 26-year-old woman was arrested on the premises.

Additional information, during the event, allowed the verification of a second neighboring dwelling, said officer Dubuc.

The investigation, led by the major crimes section of the SPVM, is continuing in this case.
