Actor Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty Thursday to manslaughter after a fatal shooting on the set of the 2021 film Rust.

He was due to appear in court on Friday, but, by making his position known to the courts in writing on Thursday, he will not be present at this hearing.

Alec Baldwin is being criminally prosecuted in New Mexico for manslaughter and faces an 18-month prison sentence, just like the film's gunslinger Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

Prosecutors have recently given up prosecuting the actor for an aggravating circumstance targeting him and which made him incur five years behind bars.

Alec Baldwin, known in particular for his role in the 30 series Rock, has always maintained his innocence. According to him, he was assured that his weapon was harmless, and he denies having pulled the trigger. An assertion doubted by many experts.
