Almost 50 million Internet users: the last Black Friday broke records in France

This is one of the new records set, in November 2024, nearly 8 out of 10 French people visited general merchant sites, mainly during the famous Black Friday period, at the end of the month.

On the Internet, the French rushed to merchant sites on the occasion of Black Friday 2024. This is what emerges from the latest figures from Médiamétrie's Global Internet Audience.

In November 2024, nearly 8 out of 10 French people (77.7%) visited general merchant sites, mainly during the Black Friday period at the end of the month. This represents 49.8 million Internet users, a new record.

22.1 million French people

Every day, an average of 22.1 million French people visited sites and/or mobile applications in this category, or more than a third of the population (34.5%). It should be noted that the majority of them (74.1%) used a mobile to connect to them. The record was set on Friday, November 29, with a total of 23.7 million unique visitors recorded for the day.

Unsurprisingly, Amazon was the most popular, with over 41 million unique visitors for the month, or nearly two out of two French Internet users. Leclerc and Fnac completed the podium, with 20.9 and 19.9 million unique monthly visitors respectively. Next come Cdiscount (19 million), AliExpress (18.8 million), Carrefour (17.9 million), Temu (17.5 million), Lidl (17.1 million), Boulanger (11.8 million) and Rakuten (11.2 million).

In November 2024, a total of 56.2 million French people connected to the Internet, or 87.7% of the population. Every day, 48.5 million of them surfed the Internet for an average of 2 hours and 59 minutes.
