As told by the endocrinologist Nadezhda Maximova, a slight excess of blood sugar level is considered to be a state of prediabetes. According to her, at such an early stage physicians determine the likelihood of future development of type II diabetes.
One out of 13 adults has prediabetes, and every sixth child is born by a mother that during pregnancy, had high glucose in the blood, and in 84% of cases, the increase in glucose was associated with diabetes, — said the expert.
Maximov said that the factors in the development of diabetes are excess weight and physical inactivity. In addition, diabetes may develop due to high levels of cholesterol in the blood constant high blood pressure.
The endocrinologist stressed that the presence of prediabetes does not always lead to the development of the disease if the person in time will change the lifestyle and food.
Type II diabetes develops slowly. Quite often, there is hidden, that is, asymptomatic disease, and its detection is accidental in the study of the ocular fundus or in a laboratory study during which is determined the level of sugar in blood and urine.
The main symptoms of diabetes of the second type: thirst, dry mouth; very frequent and profuse urination; increased appetite; dry skin and mucous membranes, pustular skin lesions, itching of the skin; cramps in the calf muscles.
The disease is often accompanied by: hair loss on legs; increased hair growth on the face; the appearance of small yellowish growths on the body (a ksant). Over time, reduced immunity and resistance to various infections.
