The health of an octogenarian from Montreal worried authorities after she was overcome by smoke from a fire, overnight from Sunday to Monday. We no longer fear for his life.
Emergency services were notified of the presence of flames in a duplex on Boulevard Gouin Ouest, in the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, about thirty minutes after midnight. About 50 firefighters rushed to the scene.
An 84-year-old woman was found in critical condition in the basement but is now out of danger, says Montreal Police Department spokesperson (SPVM), Véronique Dubuc.
The cause of the blaze, which appears to have originated in the basement, remains unknown, and the Montreal Fire Department has transferred the x27;investigation at the SPVM arson section.
