Jolie filed a domestic violence counterclaim against her ex-husband.
In Hollywood, another noisy and scandalous trial is planned. Angelina Jolie filed a counterclaim against Brad Pitt in the proceedings for the sale of the Chateau Miraval winery, and accused him of domestic violence. The New York Times writes about this.
Jolie's lawyers have already said that the actress did not want to make this incident, which occurred on board a private jet in 2016, public, but Pitt forced her by filing a lawsuit due to sale of her part of the estate and the winery. Brad Pitt claims they had an unwritten agreement that they would continue to co-own the estate and sued her for selling it.
In a new lawsuit, the actress alleges that in 2016, when they flew on board a private jet from France to California, Brad Pitt made a drunken brawl. He strangled one of their six children, pushed another, and doused her with beer, grabbed her by the hair and slammed her against the wall. She suffered elbow and back injuries. And five days after the fatal flight, she filed for divorce.
Jolie said the marriage “came to an end” during a flight on September 14, 2016.
Court documents state that “during a long night flight, Pitt physically and emotionally abused Jolie and their children, who were then between 8 and 15 years old.”
Jolie described in detail the events that took place on board the plane . According to her, Pitt had a fight with one of the children before arriving at the airport, and when Angelina Jolie asked him on the plane about what happened, he accused her of being too “respectful” of the children, and “verbally attacked her.”
And 90 minutes later, Pitt dragged her into the bathroom and started yelling at her.
“Pitt grabbed Jolie's head and shook her, then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall. Pitt then punched the plane's ceiling multiple times, prompting Jolie to leave the bathroom,” the lawsuit says.
When she came out, one of the children asked if Jolie was all right.
“Pitt yelled back: “No, mommy is not all right” and began to insult Angelina,” the lawsuit alleges that Pitt threw himself on the child, and she began to defend him.
To throw his wife off, “Pitt leaned back on the plane seats, injuring Jolie's back and elbow.”
The children tried to pull their father away from their mother, and then he hit one of them, and began to choke the second.
“Some of the kids begged Pitt to stop. They were all scared. Many were crying,” the lawsuit alleges.
The rest of the flight, “to avoid Brad Pitt's wrath”, Jolie and the kids “sat in silence and motionless under the covers”.
Lawyers note that none of them dared to go to the toilet until the end of the flight, because Pitt continued to yell at them from time to time.
“At some point, he poured beer on Angelina Jolie, then poured beer on the children and red wine. When Pitt finally calmed down and fell asleep, the family was able to feel calm.
After landing, Jolie woke him up and said that she and her children were going to the hotel, not home. And the scandal flared up with renewed vigor. Lawyers claim that he did not let the family get off the plane for 20 minutes and only relented when one of the children asked him to leave. But outside the plane door, Brad Pitt went berserk again, used physical force on one of their children, and shook Jolie until the kids begged him not to hurt her.
“He let go of Jolie, but then called her “bitch” before adding, “Fuck you, fuck you all.”
An investigation was launched, but no charges were filed.
Seven months later, in April 2022, Jolie, under the pseudonym “Jane Doe”, sued the FBI, trying to find out why the investigation was closed.
As for the Chateau Miraval winery, everything was also not easy with her. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who met in 2005, bought the Chateau Miraval winery in 2008.
Their representatives discussed signing an agreement that outlined the terms of the division of property in the event of a couple's divorce. But Pitt said that “two reasonable people should not enter into such an agreement.”
The idea was abandoned and in August 2014 the couple got married in the castle.
In her counterclaim, Angelina Jolie claims that Pitt did not consult with her about the development of the estate and the installation of a fifth pool worth one million euros.
But she said she did not mind at the time.
“Jolie has always taken an active part in the design of any home in which she lived. And they wanted to do the same with Chateau Miraval. But Pitt sought creative control, consistent with his own taste and vision,” the actress’s lawyers say.
So he installed a fifth pool and rebuilt the stairs four times, and when Jolie questioned his decision, he defended the designs as “critical to his vision of the castle.”
Now the cost of Chateau Miraval is estimated at $ 164 million.
And after divorce, when Pitt tried to consolidate control over the winery, she accused her ex-husband of pushing her out of the business and using the proceeds to finance his own projects.
By 2019, Jolie came to the conclusion that she would continue the joint business with ex-husband is impossible and decided to sell her part of the estate and wineries. Pitt was known to be outraged and filed a lawsuit.
Pitt claimed that Jolie unilaterally sold her stake to multinational beverage giant Stoli, but Jolie said Tuesday she offered Pitt a chance to buy her out.She said there was a $54.5 million deal to sell her stake to Pitt, but he refused when she filed allegations of abuse.
