The death toll continues to rise
A second major earthquake hit Turkey and Syria less than 12 hours after the first.
Turkey reports that a second powerful earthquake has hit the southeastern part of the country in less than 12 hours. Syria's public media also reported that Damascus was hit by the last major earthquake, although details remain scarce.
According to information provided by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the earthquake on Monday morning resulted in 912 deaths. The tragedy took place in the southeast of Turkey.

As reported by the media, also northern Syria was affected by the cataclysm. So far, 326 deaths have been reported in government-controlled areas in Damascus.
