Apple Intelligence: how to install it in France before its official release

While Apple has announced the release of its artificial intelligence in April 2025, it is still possible to take advantage of it s à present in Europe through some manipulations.

Apple Intelligence may be at the heart of the new iPhone 16, but Apple's artificial intelligence solution is not yet available in Europe. Officially released with the iOS18.1 update, Apple Intelligence will not be available on our iPhones until April 2025 according to the firm.

However, there are methods for trying out Apple Intelligence in Europe. These methods require some manipulation, but they allow you to get to grips with the first features already deployed for Apple Intelligence.

How to install Apple Intelligence on iPhone in Europe

Apple Intelligence is more or less already present on your iPhone if you are located in Europe. To make it appear, your iPhone must have the latest updates, including version 18.1 released in October 2024.

If you go to your iPhone's settings, you should find a section called “Apple Intelligence and Siri”. If you're an EU resident, this section should disappoint you since Apple Intelligence is not yet available and it's just the menu that already ready for deployment in 2025.

To use Apple Intelligence in Europe, you must first:

• Have a compatible device, such as an iPhone 15 Pro/iPhone 15 Pro Max or an iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max.
• Create an Apple account with a nationality where Apple Intelligence is available. To create a US Apple ID, go to the official Apple website and fill in the requested information. No credit card or ID required.
• Connect your compatible iPhone with your new Apple ID. To change accounts, go to your iPhone settings, click on your profile at the top, then on the “Media and Purchases” section where you can log out. Then fill in your new profile.
• Then go back to the iPhone settings and change its language to English (US).
• Select “English (United States)” for Siri's language.
• Go back to the “Apple Intelligence” section in your settings to be able to join the artificial intelligence queue.

Note that, despite your American account and the English language, it is still possible to benefit from an AZERTY keyboard, but also temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. You will find these options in “Settings” > "Generalégeneral" > "Language and region".

Once this is done, you should be able to enjoy Apple Intelligence as if you were in the United States. However, you will lose the connections linked to your usual Apple account, but it is still possible to juggle between your two accounts in your iPhone settings.

How to install Apple Intelligence on iPad in Europe

To enjoy Apple Intelligence on iPad, the method is exactly the same. However, you will need to have an iPad compatible with Apple's AI solution and the update iPadOS 18.1 update. iPads that support Apple Intelligence are:

• iPad Pro 11″ and 12.9" (2021)
• iPad Pro M4 from 13″ (2024)
• iPad Air 10.9″ (2022)
• iPad Air 11 and 13″ (2024)
• iPad Mini (2024)

How to install Apple Intelligence on Mac in Europe

Unlike the iPad and iPhone, the Mac is not considered a monopoly and regulated by the European DMA which prevents the deployment of Apple Intelligence in Europe. However, you will have to switch your Mac computer to English since Apple Intelligence is, for the moment, only available in this language!

To do this, go to “System Settings” on your Mac and to the “General” tab to find the “Language and Region” section. and switch to English. Don't forget to switch this language to your primary language to take advantage of Apple Intelligence.

Then go back to the settings and you will see that Siri now has an Apple Intelligence option. Take the opportunity to change its language to English and you can then join the waiting list to take advantage of the firm's artificial intelligence.

What Apple Intelligence features are already available ?

Apple Intelligence is gradually rolling out around the world. Not all the features announced during the September keynote are available yet, but it is already possible to:

• Rewrite your texts by adjusting the tone (professional, concise or friendly) or by checking the grammar, word choice and syntax.
• An improved Siri with a new interface and an integrated button the taskbar on Mac.

• A new photo application that can edit and sort according to your descriptions.
• Correction of your photos by removing an object or an unwanted person from your photo.
• Summary of your emails with ranking by priority of the most urgent emails. The “smart reply” option also provides suggestions for quick replies to identified emails.
• Recording audio content via the “Phone” and “Notes” apps with the ability to create a text summary.

More features for Apple Intelligence will be available in the coming months. The European version of Apple Intelligence will be available in April 2025 and the French language will arrive in the course of 2025.
