Armed assault in Quebec City: three wounded, shots fired

A major police deployment took place on Chemin Sainte-Foy.

Quebec police officers opened fire on a man armed with knives on Monday afternoon in the Sainte-Foy area of ​​Quebec. The man in his thirties allegedly stabbed two women.

Officers received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 5:28 p.m. that a male armed with a stabbing weapon was assaulting a woman in an apartment building near the ;intersection of avenue Chèvremont and chemin Sainte-Foy.

According to our information gathered from witnesses to the scene: the suspect was holding a knife in each hand. He advanced towards the police who held him at bay behind their patrol vehicles.

At least two shots were fired, the man collapsed to the ground and was quickly handcuffed by officers.

Information that does not confirm the spokesperson for the SPVQ, Sandra Dion, who claims that the police neutralized the suspect outside the building, and that he was transported to a hospital center.

A security perimeter has been deployed.

The two alleged victims, including a woman in her twenties, were located shortly afterwards inside the apartment building. Wounded by stabbing, they were transported to a care center. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

A security perimeter has been erected in the area. Traffic was redirected on Chemin Sainte-Foy west of Robert-Bourassa for several hours.
