Arrest of four minors for thefts at Dolbeau-Mistassini

In recent weeks, several thefts have been reported in Saguenay and Lac-Saint-Jean.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) investigators have arrested four minor suspects in connection with a series of thefts from vehicles and vehicle thefts in the Dolbeau-Mistassini area.

According to the SQ, the crimes took place in July. The thieves tried to open the doors of the vehicles. They stole from cars whose doors were not locked and they went for a ride with those whose keys were available and then brought them back on site, according to information disclosed by the SQ.

The suspects have been released and are expected to appear later.

The police are taking the opportunity to raise public awareness about locking their vehicles, reminding them of the prevention rules.

• Keep your windows closed when the vehicle is unattended;

• Lock the doors and the rear trunk of the vehicle;

• If possible, park your vehicle in a well-lit and busy area;

• Never leave your key in the ignition if you have to leave your vehicle unattended;

• Do not leave any valuables visible in the vehicle;

• Remove any element that may indicate that an electronic device is inside (GPS holder, charger, adapter);

• Turn off the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi function -Fi your devices to prevent thieves from picking up their signal.

In recent weeks, several thefts have been reported in Saguenay and Lac-Saint-Jean.

The SQ reminds that a motorist who does not lock his vehicle and leaves the keys available is an offense that can result in a fine of $108.

Sûreté du Québec officers also arrested two suspects linked to the vehicle theft and break and enter cases in Saint-Honore. One is 37 years old and the other 31 years old.

The police searched a vehicle and a residence on boulevard Martel in Saint-Honoré. During the searches, several objects that had been stolen in October were recovered.

The SQ asks victims of thefts who have not filed a complaint to do so, because several objects found are not linked to investigation files.
