Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi will arrive at Songshan Airport in Taipei on August 2 at around 22:30. This is reported by the local edition of ETtoday, citing its own sources.

The American politician is reported to spend the night at the Grand Hyatt hotel in the capital.

Reporters specify that Pelosi will visit the Taiwanese parliament the next day – Legislative Yuan, where he will meet with the state authorities, including the President of the Republic, Cai Ing-wen.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives is preparing to leave the island on the same day, August 3, by plane.

The Speaker has not yet commented on its possible arrival in Taiwan, citing security concerns.

China, in turn, stepped up artillery and aircraft due to a possible visit by Pelosi to Taiwan. Later, the 80th division of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) published a call to prepare for war on the Weibo social network. Two-character post “Prepare for war!” collected more than 300 thousand likes and 19 thousand comments in 12 hours against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the world and, in particular, between China and Taiwan.
