Modern artist Masha Yankovskaya wrote a post on Instagram* in which she told the story of meeting and developing relationships with her future husband, an entrepreneur Anton Mankovsky.

I was in my last year of school. Love story for teenagers — it's always crap. A party at someone's dacha and an accidental muddied in an alcoholic frenzy. And how embarrassing he then “moved out” (guys always disappear after such episodes) — I was sad for three weeks (I really liked him). Would I then have thought that this man would one day become my husband?

In general, the concept of marriage never appealed to me. I did not set out to successfully marry … Husband, wife, apartment, cottage — how boring! I always wanted to build a big career, be independent, inaccessible and… perhaps lonely. Then it just didn’t fit in my head that you can be self-sufficient and still have a partner.

Then he reappeared when I had another boyfriend and we kissed in his mom's gold Peugeot. I was frankly bored with that guy, so if Anton had been more persistent, we could have met at the institute. But, fortunately for everyone, he disappeared again.

It's been about 10 years since we first met. One day, when I was visiting my parents in St. Petersburg, I again went on a date with Anton. He met me in a wretched car (would I have thought then that this would be my first car when I got my license?). Everything was going great. After the date, I was ready to go to him, but he, a fool, missed this moment.

We had to wait a long time for the next moment:

When on the next date Anton came to me in Moscow — I'm already cold. And a long period of trampling the future husband into the mud began. For about six months I wiped my feet on it. As it turned out, it was a very good start. My inaccessibility completely clouded his mind. Anton at that time had no goals in life, except for one — get me,

    — summed up Yankovskaya.

Masha Yankovskaya (real name — Bekarevich. — ed. note) became known to the general public after Esquire magazine commissioned an illustration from her for the cover of its literary issue. Since 2021, Yankovskaya has been represented by the Fine Art Gallery — one of the leading and oldest contemporary art galleries in Russia. Masha Yankovskaya's paintings are in galleries and private collections in Russia and abroad.
