The man was arrested by Indian customs who discovered the object wrapped in cloth. “During the examination of the baggage, a skull with sharp teeth, resembling the jaw of a baby crocodile, weighing approximately 777 g, was discovered wrapped in a cream-coloured cloth”, explains the authorities in the press release. According to information from the BBC, the tourist did not hunt the animal himself but bought the skull in Thailand. ~

For the Indian Forest and Wildlife Department, the skull is that of a baby crocodile belonging to a protected species and being in possession of the object constitutes a “serious violation of wildlife and customs laws”. The item was seized and handed over to the Indian Forest and Wildlife Department. An investigation has been initiated.
