Our last meeting with Asterix and Obelix was disappointing to say the least. We still remember the feature film Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom, starring Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche and Jonathan Cohen. Despite some good ideas, such as giving the role of Obelix to Gilles Lellouche, Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom is far from having won our hearts. With its unambitious script and unsubtle jokes at a frenetic pace, the film rang hollow. To our great dismay. But Asterix and Obelix: The Battle of the Chiefs could well make us forget this bad experience.

This new series relies on animation to dazzle us, undeniably inspired by Spider-Man: New Generation, enough to make our mouths water. It adapts one of the most emblematic volumes of the adventures of our favorite Gauls.

While the village populated by indomitable Gauls still resists the invader, Julius Caesar finds a way to make them give in. By sending a chief of a Gallo-Roman village, Aplusbégalix, to challenge and defeat Abraracourcix during a traditional battle of the chiefs, the emperor could (finally) make the Gauls who have stood up to him for so long give in. Indeed, the chief winning the battle of the chiefs becomes the chief of the losing village. Thus, the defeat of Abraracourcix could cause his village to fall under the control of the invaders. No problem because there is the magic potion, you think? Yes, but… While trying to stop Roman soldiers from capturing Panoramix, Obelix knocks the druid out with a menhir. Faced with an amnesiac Panoramix who is unable to make an effective magic potion, the future of Asterix and Obelix's village is uncertain… By Toutatis!

We won't have to wait much longer to discover this new animated gem. Netflix has just announced the good news. Asterix and Obelix: The Battle of the Chiefs will be released on April 30, 2025. Can't wait! The animated series will include 5 episodes.

After Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra about twenty years ago, Alain Chabat is finally returning to the comic strip by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. And we are delighted! At the helm of Asterix and Obelix: The Battle of the Chiefs, Alain Chabat promises to make us (again) die of laughter. Especially since the casting of this new animated series is magical. We find Alain Chabat, who will lend his voice to Asterix, Gilles Lellouche will return to the character of Obelix and Laurent Laffite will be the voice of Julius Caesar. Jérôme Commandeur and Anaïs Demoustier will also be there.
