At least four dead and several injured by a powerful explosion in the center of Istanbul
At least Four people have died and several have been injured by a powerful explosion of unidentified origin that occurred this Sunday on the busy Istiklal avenue in the capital of Turkey, Istanbul.
Ambulances have rushed to the site of the explosion, which has been quickly cordoned off by police. The area, in the city's Beyoglu district, was crowded as usual with shoppers, tourists and families, as reported by TRT and other media. Istiklal Avenue, or Independence Avenue, is one of the busiest streets in the city and is home to numerous businesses.
The governor from Istanbul, Ali Yerlikaya, has confirmed that the explosion took place around 2:20 p.m., Spanish peninsular time. like deaths on his Twitter account, without giving further details.

As shown by Images from a security camera located at the same point of the explosion, a bag on a bank could be the source of a bomb.
The nearby Kasimpasa police station told Reuters that all teams were at the scene, but gave no further details. Local media have detailed that inspectors were on the scene. For its part, the Turkish Red Crescent has reported that it was transferring blood to nearby hospitals.

The security forces have already cordoned off the area and cleared the street of passers-by to facilitate care for the victims.
Turkey's RTUK regulator imposed a broadcast ban on coverage of the blast about an hour after it happened.
