100 citizens of the country who are allegedly involved in the formation of an aggressive anti-Russian course were banned from entering the territory of the Russian Federation.
Russia has imposed personal sanctions against 100 citizens of Canada. They are prohibited from entering the territory of the federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reported.
The relevant ministry said that high-ranking officials, businessmen, activists, members of media and financial structures who allegedly involved in the formation of an aggressive anti-Russian course.
The list also includes actor Jim Carrey and Stepan Bandera's grandson Stefan.
Stefan Bandera: who is he
Stefan (Stepan) Bandera is a freelancer, translator and journalist. One of the grandsons of the head of the OUN-UPA, Stepan Bandera. Holds Canadian citizenship. In the 2000s, he often came to Ukraine and spoke to students. He also worked on Channel 5 at one time.
By the way, Russia even included teachers and university professors known for their reputation all over the world in the sanctions list.
Who was included in the new sanctions list of the Russian Federation
Among Canadian citizens who were banned from entering Russia were:
- University of Waterloo Professor Christopher Nekhaniv;
- film actress Katheryn Winnick;
- CBC war correspondents;
- former Canadian ambassadors to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk and Andrew Robinson;
- Author of The Handmaid's Tale Margaret Atwood and others.
Note that three days ago, the Russian Federation imposed an entry ban for two hundred US citizens.
According to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, among those who fell under personal sanctions are representatives of authorities, legislators, their relatives, heads of companies and enterprises of the military-industrial complex, as well as experts and lobbyists allegedly “involved in the promotion of the Russophobic campaign and support for the regime in Kyiv” .
Restrictions on entry into the country, in particular, apply to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, and independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
The new Russian stop list includes relatives of US President Joe Biden – his brothers James and Francis, as well as his sister Valerie. Among others, the list included the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, David Petraeus.
Focus also wrote that the US and Canada would impose new sanctions against companies in the Russian Federation. The sanctions will be just one part of a larger US effort to thwart Russia's military measures and deprive it of essential technology.
