Since July 2024, the Béziers station has been undergoing a series of works related to accessibility work. “The platform furniture is gradually being removed as the work progresses, new furniture will be put back in place afterwards”, assures Mickaël Ollier, head of the communication and institutional relations division at SNCF gares et connexions.
A project to make it accessible should run until next July, according to the deadline given by SNCF. “As for the work related to the multimodal interchange hub (PEM), this should be completed by the end of 2025“, affirms Mickaël Ollier. On the new side, a complete overhaul of the furniture is planned: “the goal is for it [the furniture] to meet the accessibility standards currently in force and the needs of our customers”.
Thus, new equipment will be installed, including “seats, but also new lighting candelabras as well as new information screens for passengers”. In the meantime, passengers will have to be patient and continue to stand while waiting for their train.
