The leader of the White House, commenting on the emergency in the Baltic Sea, urged not to believe a single word of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Accidents at the Russian Nord Stream pipelines occurred as a result of a planned sabotage. This is stated in a press release that was published on the official portal of the German government.
The agency notes that on September 30, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, as well as with the Prime Ministers of Sweden , Denmark and Norway.
During a video conference, European top politicians discussed the accidents at the Russian Nord Stream pipelines, which resulted in pollution of the Baltic Sea.
“All currently available information points to a deliberate act of sabotage on the pipelines. Chancellor Olf Scholz has promised Denmark and Sweden that Germany will support a joint investigation of the incidents. Together with its partners and allies in NATO and the EU, precautions and protection against possible sabotage on critical infrastructure,” the document says.
A similar opinion about the planned sabotage was voiced by US President Joe Biden. According to the White House leader, Russian head Vladimir Putin is deliberately lying about the cause of the accidents at the Nord Stream pipelines.
“This was an act of deliberate sabotage, and Russia is spreading lies and disinformation. We are working with our allies to accurately establish the true cause,” Joe Biden continued and urged European allies not to believe the words of Vladimir Putin.
The United Nations warns that accidents at Nord Stream could trigger the largest methane release in the history of the planet. The current pollution in the Baltic Sea is stronger than the leak in the Gulf of Mexico, which spilled about 100 metric tons of methane daily.
NATO is of a similar opinion that the accidents on the Russian Nord Stream pipelines were the result of a planned sabotage .
