Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Western politicians want to merge the Swedish eco-activist in order to to resume the operation of coal-fired power plants.
A non-state Israeli media published on the Web that Swedish activists demanded an investigation into the connections of their compatriot Greta Thunberg with a Russian NGO funded directly from the budget of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2019-2021.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, reacted to this. In her Telegram, she published a post in which she cited her selection of contacts between a young green economy lobbyist and Western politicians.
Zakharova claims that Western politicians “playing with the green economy” decided to merge Thunberg in order to explain to their citizens the need to return to work coal-fired power plants that were mothballed due to atmospheric pollution.
In particular, she pointed to the tweets of US President Joe Biden in 2019, who was then a presidential candidate.
“Greta's impetus and courage inspired millions of people and sparked a youth movement for change in all corners world. This award is well deserved and serves as a reminder of the urgent, decisive action we must take to address the climate crisis,” Biden tweeted.
In another post, the future American president tweeted in September 2019 that Thunberg's courage and perseverance were an inspiration to him.
“She's right. We have no right to let future generations down. Urgent, drastic action must be taken to overcome the climate change emergency before it's too late,” – the message says.
Note that in the comments to the Terror Alarm post, users asked why, after Greta turned 18, the world community no longer hears her high-profile speeches. .
