More:Artist Es Devlin included 700 glowing cords in her creation to represent the 700 languages spoken in New York. Among them are Algerian, Arabic, Alsatian, Azerbaijani, Ashanti, Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Belarusian, Zapotec, Zarma, Zulu and others. Devlin placed these cords between structural arcs that glow and spin against a multilingual soundtrack.
On a certain day, New York choirs representing the unique voices and languages of the Big Apple will perform live at 6:00 p.m. near this installation:
