An envelope with a mechanism that is activated by pulling the thread was sent to the Spanish Ministry of Defense. Another packet was addressed to the Satellite Center in the Madrid region, which has been providing intelligence to Ukraine since February.
To the Spanish Ministry of Defense and the Satellite Center in the Madrid region, which provides information to Ukraine, on the morning of Thursday, December 1, unknown sent two envelopes with explosive devices. Another suspicious package arrived at the Torrejon de Ardoz airbase. This is reported by “El Mundo”.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the country received a letter with a device that is activated by pulling the thread. It is reported that the letter was sent from Spain.
This parcel was similar to the one that the day before, on November 30, was addressed to the Ambassador of Ukraine in Madrid. The envelope with an improvised explosive device did not pass the scanner, and it was opened by a security guard of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission, as a result of which he received hand injuries.
Unknown people also sent a similar bomb in an envelope to the headquarters of the arms company Instalaza in Zaragoza. The Spanish authorities handed over more than a thousand grenade launchers manufactured by this enterprise to the Armed Forces of Ukraine before the start of a large-scale Russian invasion.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Internal Affairs, another suspicious envelope was found early in the morning on December 1 at the base of Torrejon de Ardoz. The X-ray scanner showed that there could be some kind of mechanism in the package. Employees of the National Police and the National Guard of the country arrived on the territory of the base.
The parcel with the explosive device contained the address of the local Satellite Center, which since February, according to the order EU, provides Ukraine with intelligence. This decision was taken as part of the EU's military support to Kyiv.
After the meeting of the defense ministers, EU foreign policy spokesman Josep Borrell said that the EU will use the Madrid Satellite Center to help Kyiv. The center provides aerial and satellite imagery.
Spanish police see a connection between all the cases mentioned.
