Saturday, 7:30 p.m., at the Parnasse. Suddenly, the Nîmes showcase is plunged into darkness. Time for the sound and light show before another, in the ring, for this 5th edition of the Boxing Fighters System (BFS), a kick-boxing and K-1 gala.

Flames, lights, stomboscopes, a DJ blasting out the sound… the evening is underway. With 3,000 spectators already under the spell and big “wows” coming down from the stands in front of the show on offer.

The Nîmes native Si-Ahmed ends his career with a victory and a knockout

'From spectator to actor, there is, moreover, sometimes only one step. Ask Samy Si-Ahmed. 'Last year, I attended the 4th edition in the stands and I really liked it, the Nîmes native emphasized. Even though I hadn’t planned on coming back to kickboxing (he moved on to MMA), when I saw the evening, I said to myself: ‘’why not ? ‘’

And he did more than well. On Saturday, during a gala where the Main Event was the WKN World Championship (see box), Si-Ahmed, 38, signed a 17th victory for the 22nd and last fight of his career in the discipline, against Mohamed Kirat, stopped by the referee in the 2nd round.

Surinamese Nijhove won the WKN world belt.

''Nîmes, world capital of the foot-fist''

''I was a little frustrated because I wanted to express myself more, especially in English, but he was quickly hit (in the shin),' he explained. I was also a little under pressure, with a crazy adrenaline. It's a great joy to finish at home. There was my mother, all my friends…''

If the Nîmes boxer signed a “happy ending”, for the BFS organization, the French top 3 in the field, this gala is also a happy sequel. ''Nîmes, world capital of foot-fist'', says the speaker.

To the great joy of the organizers, Olivier Cerdan (with Habib Bakir and Stéphan Manquenouille), in the lead: ''We are happy with the result. We are an association, not a company, we do not do this for profit. The American contact club, this club has existed for thirty years. We do this for our boxers.''

Only one KO, but what a KO!

In the Parnasse ring on Saturday, no (yet) youngsters from the club, but an evening where it hit hard. In the 100 kg, the Italian Pugliese dominated the Reunionese Robert, in a decision. An evening with only one KO. But what a KO! Djennadi's (broken) nose still remembers it, meeting the tibia of the Tunisian Rezgui. There too, the public shuddered. But not for the same reason…

Surinamese Guevero Nijhove becomes WKN world champion

GALA – He came from far away, from Suriname (northern South America), from the ''Dutch kick-fist school'', notes Bakir. Guevera Nijhove left Nîmes with excess baggage. This WKN belt (75 kg) obtained, in the decision, against the Swede Dalian Dawody, the Surinamese being more active.

Another highlight of the evening, the fight in 71 kg between the Albanian Agalliu, WKN European champion, and the Arlesian Mickael Pignolo, WKN world vice-champion. The Frenchman won in the decision. ''I would have liked to have dropped it, but I couldn't'', he observed.
