Brandon Metallic will stand trial by judge and jury
The alleged facts occurred at the Baie-Comeau detention center
Brandon Metallic, charged with arson at the Baie-Comeau prison, will stand trial before a judge and jury.< /p>
Also charged with double murder in Gaspésie, Brandon Metallic faces two counts on the North Shore following a fire he allegedly intentionally lit in his cell in May 2021.
The accused, who is representing himself, recently underwent his preliminary inquiry at the Baie-Comeau courthouse.
The man had the choice of being tried by a judge or a jury. Since he has shown no particular will, a jury will be responsible for rendering the verdict. Brandon Metallic will appear before the Superior Court on December 6 for the start of the criminal assizes.
Recall that Brandon Metallic received a six-month sentence for an assault with a weapon on a peace officer. This assault occurred while he was detained in Sept-Îles, in June 2021.
These events also occurred shortly after his arrest, in Gaspésie, for a double murder in Listuguj.
Brandon Metallic will return to this latest case at the New Carlisle Courthouse on December 14 and 15 for preliminary motions.
