Bullet Train: the director will make a big spy thriller for Netflix

After Bullet Train, David Leitch will direct Bang!, a spy movie starring Idris Elba, for Netflix.

Since John Wick, former stuntman David Leitch's rise as an action film director and producer has seen few obstacles. Although one can be skeptical about the quality of his works, be it Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, Atomic Blonde or Deadpool 2< /strong>, it's obvious that Leitch has made his mark. While he is causing a stir this summer with his yet generic Bullet Train, the filmmaker has already packed his bags at Netflix to direct his future feature film.

No wonder since the Bullet Train recipe seems to be perfectly suited to the style of films that the platform now wishes to favor. And it is again for a spy and adventure thriller that David Leitch was called. He will therefore take care of directing the new collaboration between Netflix and Dark Horse Entertainment: Bang!. It is Idris Elba who will play the first role of the film, that of a secret agent on whom the future of the world will rest.

Bang! is the adaptation of the comic book of the same name, written by Matt Kindt and illustrated by Wilfredo Torres, which has the greatest spy in the world as its hero. His mission is to stop the plans of a terrorist cult on the verge of causing the apocalypse through science fiction novels. A pulp adventure mixing mystery and action, Bang! has been described as a “completely crazy mix between James Bond and Tintin” (according to Keanu Reeves, it's worth what it's worth).

The film will therefore have to live up to its reputation. It will be written by original comic book writer Matt Kindt (good news) and Bullet Train screenwriter Zak Olkewicz (ha!). This is the fourth collaboration between Netflix and Dark Horse after Polar, Umbrella Academy and Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles.
