Bayern Munich has to do without world footballer Robert Lewandowski for around four weeks. The 32-year-old suffered a ligament stretch in his right knee in the Polish national team’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra (3-0). The German record champions announced on Tuesday.
The striker traveled early from Warsaw back to Munich, where the diagnosis was made by the medical department of the German record champions.
Fear of an “eternal” goal record
Lewandowski was substituted on Sunday evening in the 63rd minute of the win against Andorra. The striker had previously scored a brace.
Lewandowski missed the top fight in the Bundesliga. Leader Bayern will visit the runner-up RB Leipzig on Saturday (6.30 p.m.). In addition, the Pole has to worry about the “eternal” goal record of legend Gerd Müller, who scored 40 goals in 1971/72. The Pole currently has 35 goals. (AFP)
