Calcined body in Beauce: the identity of the victim revealed
Karine Bélanger was 36 years old.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirms that the charred body discovered on Sunday in a burnt-out van in Saint-Bernard in Beauce is that of Karine Bélanger, a 36-year-old woman from Quebec.
Everything suggests that the woman was the victim of femicide.
For the moment, the SQ claims not to have arrested anyone in connection with this case. An investigation is still ongoing.
However, an elderly man in his twenties who allegedly had a relationship with the victim is in the sights of the police, according to our information.
The motives and circumstances of the crime have yet to be clarified.
The body of Karine Bélanger was discovered on Sunday afternoon in a burnt-out van in a field in Saint-Bernard in Beauce.
The van was allegedly stolen in Sainte-Marie, a few dozen kilometers away.
The news is a shock for relatives of the young woman.
Cindy Côté, a longtime friend of Karine, can't believe it. The two women had spoken for the last time on Saturday evening, the day before the tragedy.
The van was discovered near a cornfield, on rang Saint-Pierre, in Saint-Bernard.
I don't understand and I won't understand never why someone can commit the irreparable in this way, she says sadly.
She now wants the culprit or culprits to be brought to justice.< /p>
