Do you smell that sulfur on Twitter? The creators of Charmed and its reboot engage in a merciless verbal contest. We tell you everything!
Last weekend ended the broadcast of the reboot of Charmedon the American channel CW. On the French side, the first three seasons of the “dusted” series are available on the Salto platform, alongside the anniversary episode of another iconic 90s TV program, Friends. In the latest episode of Charmed, the three heroines transit to the Halliwell sisters' mansion via an interdimensional portal. An end that still does not digest Curtis Kheel, one of the screenwriters of the original series…
This Saturday, June 11, Kheel splits a tweet just after discovering the last part of the reboot of his series: “As a scriptwriter ofCharmedoriginally, I can tell you what happened next: Piper, Phoebe and Paige defeated the three imposters right after they invaded the Halliwell mansion. Then, Holly Marie Combs blows up the portal to the other universe and mischievously says: ‘We wish them well'”. War is declared. A violent storm is sweeping through Twitter. The authors of the reboot strike back without taking gloves.
Charmed reboot writers strike back
“Unlike the original Charmed, we had a strict policy of not hiring 'assholes' among the writers,” the reboot writers counter. “We mostly feel pity for these people, because, unlike them, we like each other and had a really good time.” The authors go on to explain that they love “ both versions of the series” and not wanting to enter into any competition. Kheel does not budge: “My problem is that from the start, the reboot of Charmed pretended that the original series did not exist, yet borrowed many ideas. We've worked very hard on this original series for many years and ignoring it is a disrespect to us and our fans.“Beware of breakage!
