Half of the capital's beau monde gathered at the private screening of the film “Memories of the Future” by Semyon Gorov at the Kyiv cinema club.

The Last Muscovite”) for the first time presented a documentary short film “Memories of the Future”, with which he was going on a tour of Ukrainian cities.

“Memories of the Future is a film about the first shock caused by the beginning of the war. Half of the capital’s beau monde gathered at the screening in the cinema club: director and actor Akhtem Seytablaev (“Cyborgs”), actor Alexei Tritenko (“I work in a cemetery”), TV presenter Vyacheslav Solomka, musician Fagot (TNMK).

Focus will tell you more about the new project.

The main idea of the documentary is the destruction of the familiar and cozy, beautiful and harmonious of the old world with a terrible monster – war. The picture shows many famous cultural places in Odessa and Kharkov, and then – the bombing of these places, destruction and even the very moments of explosions of architectural masterpieces.

Through the whole picture there are small monologues of the 80-year-old classical composer Igor Poklad (musicals “Konotop Witch”, Christmas Night, hits “Wild Geese”, “Violin Play”, music for the animated cycle “Like Cossacks ….”), which two sat for weeks in the basement of his house in Vorzel during the occupation. On March 11, a volunteer took the composer with his wife and mother-in-law. Russian paratroopers rampaged in their house. The well-known resort village temporarily became a “branch of hell.”

Gorov asked the composer to return to the same basement in order to more accurately reproduce on the screen the difficult emotions that he had to endure. Poklad's mournful face symbolically passes through the whole picture. His music sounds in the film – this is a melody with ethnic inclusions, inside which there is a rhythm resembling a beating heart. And to By the end of the picture, the sound of this music is getting stronger and stronger, acquiring the same strength of spirit and resistance that is so important now.

The tape shows Ukrainian dancers, artists, poets who continue to create in their hometowns. We see, for example, a girl dancing among anti-tank hedgehogs. She lays down on a metal slingshot – and seems to be crucified on it.

“Memories of the Future” is the first attempt to artistically and plastically comprehend in the frame such a terrible phenomenon as war. The same visual device will be repeated through the film as a refrain: we observe an image of something beautiful and pompous, the Odessa theater, for example – and then the object is shaken by an explosion and circular vibrations diverge to the sides. This is a metaphor for the first shock caused by the large-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation. Something that should never have happened, but happened.

The idea of the picture is that after this total blow that our Motherland received, it was helped to withstand the cultural and spiritual inner core that the enemy failed to break.

The only remark to what he saw: the story clearly needs to be continued. Ukraine not only withstood the onslaught of Putin's Russia, but also drove the enemy back – to the borders that they so presumptuously crossed.

There was already the sinking of the cruiser “Moskva”, the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the liberation of Kherson. Dozens of new military songs have already appeared, where the powerful Ukrainian force sounds menacingly and the light of the future Victory is visible. And “Remembrance” looks like the first part of a large trilogy, where the other two are, say, “Counterstrike” and “Victory”.
