The authorities of Russian cities are trying to dress and shoe the mobilized, who are sent to Ukraine. Therefore, residents of St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad and other cities will be left without concerts, fireworks and festivities for the New Year.
Authorities in Russia's St. Petersburg will cancel all New Year celebrations to spend the money saved on equipment for mobilized and volunteers. The governor of the city Alexander Beglov wrote about this on Telegram.
Concerts will not take place on Palace Square and Nevsky Prospekt. Fireworks and a charity reception in the Tauride Palace will also not take place, Beglov delighted the residents of the city.
New Year trees and children's parties will be preserved, as well as all holiday programs for families.
At the end of September this year, the governor told how the authorities would support the mobilized. Conscripts are promised a one-time payment of 100,000 rubles, and volunteers – 300,000 rubles.
Children of the future occupiers will receive free meals at schools, free travel and extraordinary admission to kindergartens and schools.
Where else will they refuse the New Year?
Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Yury Shalabaev took an example from his St. Petersburg colleague. The official informed about the cancellation of fireworks and festivities. All the money will be directed to benefits for the families of the mobilized.
“We have other tasks … These are payments for kindergartens, for meals at schools, for “extension”, for additional education,” the mayor said.
The authorities of Kaliningrad will not buy a New Year tree and decorations for the winter holiday.
After the mobilization announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, a petition appeared “Instead of the New Year tree – material assistance to mobilized Kaliningraders.” Its authors proposed to send “New Year's” money for the purchase of warm clothes, medicines and quadrocopters for the invaders.
New Year's fireworks and celebrations were canceled in Tobolsk, Tyumen region, the money saved will go to charity Christmas trees for children called up to fight in Ukraine.
The head of Kaluga, Dmitry Denisov, decided not to spend money on the celebration of the New Year and do the same as his colleagues. There will be no holiday decorations in Kaluga.
“We will not hold fireworks, concerts and mass celebrations. We will direct all free funds to support mobilized Kaluga residents,” the official said.
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine believes that the number of Russian citizens who left Russia 2 times more than the number of mobilized.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov previously spoke about sending the first 150,000 mobilized Russians to Ukraine. They will replenish the units of the invaders at the front, where there are the most casualties.
