
Complaint about Supreme Court Justice Russell Brown's alleged conduct investigated
The Supreme Court recently announced that Justice Brown has been on leave since early February, but did not disclose the reason.
The Canadian Judicial Council (CJC) is investigating a complaint about the alleged conduct of Supreme Court of Canada Justice Russell Brown.
In a statement released Tuesday, council says the complaint against Judge Brown, received on January 29, has been referred to Judge Christopher Hinkson. Chief of the Supreme Court of British Columbia and Chair of the CJC's Judicial Conduct Committee.
Russell Brown provided comments regarding the complaint to Justice Hinkson, at his request, February 20.
The Supreme Court recently announced that Justice Brown has been on leave since early February, but did not disclose the reason.< /p>
The Judicial Council advised that due to questions about Mr. Brown's absence, Judge Hinkson ruled that he was in the public interest to announce the review of the case.
Council has not publicly specified the nature of the complaint against Mr. Brown and does not comment further on the matter at this time.
