Constable Grzegorz Pierzchala's funeral held in Barrie
The remains of Constable Grzegorz Pierzchala were transported to Barrie on Friday.
The funeral of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer who was killed last week is scheduled to take place this Wednesday at 11 a.m. at an arena in his hometown of Barrie, about 100 kilometers north of Toronto.
The private ceremony for 28-year-old police officer Grzegorz Pierzchala will take place at Sadlon Arena.
Members of the police officer's family and their guests will be joined by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and United Nations Services. x27;emergency, among others.
The funeral is not open to the public, but an in-person broadcast is expected to take place at Caledonia Lions Hall in Haldimand County, where the Agent Pierzchala was based.
Grzegorz Pierzchala was a former Constable in the Ontario Legislative Assembly and was also a member of the Armed Forces.
On December 27, he was killed in what police said was an ambush after responding to a call for a vehicle that had fallen into a ditch west of Hagersville, southwest of Hamilton.
Randall McKenzie, 25, and Brandi Crystal Lyn Stewart-Sperry, 30, are both facing murder charges. be in the first degree in connection with the death of the police officer.
