Car prices in Russia continue to shock. Some models on the Russian market are 2-3 times more expensive than in other countries. For example, the Skoda Kodiaq family crossover costs 4.8 million rubles or $80,000 there – at the level of the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5. This is reported by rg.ru.

At this price, the Skoda Kodiaq 2022 is sold in one of the Moscow car dealerships. Moreover, for this money they offer cars in the initial version of Ambition and with a 2.0-liter 150-horsepower turbodiesel. Equipment includes dual-zone climate control, heated seats, light and rain sensors. For comparison: you can buy a Skoda Kodiaq in Ukraine in the same version for $39,200.

Other Skoda models have also risen in price significantly. So, the Skoda Karoq crossover with a 1.4-liter 150-horsepower turbo engine and front-wheel drive costs $56,200 (3.4 million rubles), while in Ukraine it costs $28,300. And the base Skoda Octavia 2022 with a 1.6-liter The 110-horsepower engine is valued at $46,300.

In the showroom, high prices are explained by the shortage of cars – there are only a few of these Skoda in warehouses. The Russian plant of the Volkswagen concern stopped working and closed, and imports are impossible under the sanctions.

This is not the only such case. For example, the new Kia Sportage 2022 in Russia is three times more expensive than in Ukraine.
