There are places on huge ships where passengers do not go: for example, a staff store and a mortuary.Related video
A Royal Caribbean cruise ship worker candidly revealed the secrets of a huge ship that is actually a floating hotel. And although passengers have access to the full range of entertainment, there are places on board where they do not have access. The Daily Mail writes about this.
Brian James worked on board the Royal Caribbean for 223 days.
According to him, there is a secret shop below deck for crew members only.
“There we can buy almost everything we need – snacks, toiletries, detergents. This is important because there was a time when the crew was not released from the ship for eight months in a row,” Brian said.
He noted that the assortment is replenished quite often and the crew compares these days with “Christmas morning”. Prices in the store are “moderate” but items are about 30 percent more expensive than usual due to foreign taxes.
In another video posted to TikTok, Brian talked about another place where guests can purchase similar products for themselves.
“So you've seen a secret shop where staff can buy stuff, but there's also a secret shop where guests can buy stuff – and I say it's a secret because it's very hard to find,” he said in the clip.
Brian said he was on board for over six weeks before he figured out where the “shop” was.
It turned out to be vending machines on deck 16-1, where everything is sold: toothpaste, toothbrushes, sunscreen. Even Pokémon cards.
However, in the comments, an employee of another cruise ship noted that they did not have anything like that on board.
Cruise ships have many luxurious entertainment facilities, swimming pools, restaurants, theaters, casinos and bars.
But there is also a morgue and a prison on board.
“When we worked on a cruise ship, we really saw how a dead body was taken out of the morgue, obviously they had a cover, but this in itself is so creepy that I didn’t want to work on the liner anymore, “said Lauren.
And the morgue, and the prison are on the lower decks of the ship away from the passengers.
Another ship's worker talked about the crew bar, where the staff relaxes after work with very moderate prices for drinks.
And also about romance on board. Sex among staff is common, but having an affair with a passenger can get you fired.
“The crew is strictly forbidden to sleep with passengers. I worked on cruise ships for three years and three friends were sent home because of this ' said another worker. But according to him, it still happens.
